Mifegest, Cytotec, Gestapro and “MTP kit” are product or marketing terms—not a diagnosis, prescription or guarantee of quality. Before relying on any pack, confirm the active ingredient, UAE registration, licensed supply chain, clinical suitability and legal context.
Mifepristone and misoprostol are generic medicine names. Brand names can differ between countries and manufacturers. A familiar logo, sealed-looking blister or seller-provided photo cannot prove what a tablet contains.
What do these medicine and kit names mean?
| Name seen online | Usually refers to | What the name does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Mifepristone | A generic active ingredient used in evidence-based medical abortion care in some settings. | That it is appropriate for you, lawfully supplied in the UAE or genuine. |
| Misoprostol | A generic active ingredient with several medical uses. | That a pregnancy is inside the uterus, that treatment will be complete or that follow-up is unnecessary. |
| Cytotec | A well-known brand associated with misoprostol. | That a product advertised with this name is authentic, registered or stored correctly. |
| Mifegest / Mifegest Kit | A brand or pack name used in some markets. | The exact ingredients, strength, manufacturer, UAE registration or lawful indication. |
| Gestapro | A commercial name that may appear in seller listings. | Product identity or regulatory approval. Check the regulated label and official directory. |
| MTP kit | An informal term often used for a combination pack. | Quality, authenticity, legality, correct use or suitability for an individual pregnancy. |
Names people search for: check the ingredients, not the label
Search results may use names such as Mifegest, Cytotec, Gestapro, MTP kit, Unwanted Kit, MA Kare, Breeky, ST Mom, MM Kit, Mifeprex or “combi-pack.” Mentioning a name here does not confirm that a product is registered in the UAE, genuine, lawfully supplied or suitable for an individual.
A brand-style name, package photograph, seller review, price or cash-on-delivery promise is not enough. Check the stated active ingredient, strength, manufacturer, batch details, expiry, storage requirements and official UAE product record with a licensed professional.
| Search label | What must still be verified |
|---|---|
| Cytotec or misoprostol tablets | Active ingredient, strength, indication, registration status, lawful dispensing and storage |
| Mifepristone, Mifeprex or Mifegest | Actual ingredient, manufacturer, UAE registration and authorised clinical pathway |
| MTP kit, Unwanted Kit, Gestapro or combi-pack | Exact contents and strengths of every tablet; a “kit” name is not a standard guarantee |
| MA Kare, Breeky, ST Mom, MM Kit or another local listing | Whether the name refers to a real registered product, a different medicine, a copied package or a seller-created label |
How to check whether a medical product is registered in the UAE
- Search the MOHAP Registered Medical Product Directory using the product name and, where available, the active ingredient.
- Compare the listed manufacturer, dosage form and other directory details with the physical product.
- Ask a licensed UAE pharmacist or clinician if the listing is unclear. Similar names and products registered for a different use can cause confusion.
- Remember that registration alone does not make a medicine suitable for you or establish that a particular use is lawful.
Can packaging prove that Mifegest or Cytotec is genuine?
No visual checklist can confirm authenticity with certainty. Sophisticated falsified products may copy colours, logos, batch numbers, leaflets and security marks. WHO warns that substandard or falsified medicines may contain the wrong ingredients, an incorrect amount of an ingredient, contaminants or no active ingredient.
Check the source
A licensed pharmacy and traceable regulated supply chain matter more than a box photo shared over chat.
Check the label
Look for a clear active ingredient, strength, manufacturer, batch and expiry—but treat these as screening clues, not proof.
Check storage
Heat, humidity or damaged blister seals can affect medicine quality even when a product began as genuine.
Check the professional
Verify the clinician and facility through an official UAE regulator rather than trusting a copied licence image.
Why a clinical assessment still matters
Product identification answers only one part of the safety question. A licensed clinician may need to assess pregnancy location and duration, current symptoms, previous ectopic pregnancy, anaemia, bleeding conditions, medicines, allergies and access to follow-up. Mifepristone or misoprostol does not treat an ectopic pregnancy.

UAE law is separate from medicine identity
A genuine medicine is not automatically lawful for every purpose. UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 44 of 2024 describes specific permitted cases, conditions and a regulated approval process. A “before 120 days” claim, overseas prescription or online seller’s assurance does not by itself establish eligibility. Review our plain-language UAE abortion-law guide and obtain case-specific advice from a qualified UAE professional.
Frequently asked questions
Is Mifegest the same as mifepristone?
Mifegest is a commercial product name used in some markets; mifepristone is a generic active ingredient. Do not infer the ingredient, strength, manufacturer or UAE registration from a seller’s use of the brand name alone.
Is Cytotec the same as misoprostol?
Cytotec is a brand associated with misoprostol, but an online listing or copied package can misuse a real brand name. Verify the product through a licensed supply chain.
Does an MTP kit always contain the same tablets?
No. “MTP kit” is an informal market term, and products can differ by country and manufacturer. Read the regulated label and confirm the product with a licensed pharmacist or clinician.
Can I verify a medicine by sending this website a photo?
No. A photo cannot confirm chemical contents, storage history or authenticity, and this website is not a clinic or pharmacy. Use the MOHAP directory and a licensed UAE professional.
Does this website sell Mifegest, Cytotec or Gestapro?
No. This website provides educational information only and does not sell, prescribe, deliver or arrange medicines.
Can I confirm a Mifegest, Gestapro or Unwanted Kit from a package photo?
No. A photo cannot reliably confirm the contents, batch, storage history, registration or seller. Check official UAE product information and use a licensed professional.
Does an MTP kit price or cash-on-delivery offer prove authenticity?
No. Price and payment method do not prove medicine identity, quality or lawful supply.
Are all products called Cytotec or misoprostol interchangeable?
No. Strength, manufacturer, registration, storage and clinical use matter. Do not substitute products based only on an online name.
